Some of the rare eastern Asian and probably eastern Asian mtDNA hgs in 577 men from a mixed sample composed of Dai and Han: A(xA4): 2=0,3% B(xB4, B5, B6): 2=0,3% B5(xB5a, B5b): 1=0,2% C5: 1=0,2% D4a: 3=0,5% D4b1: 2=0,3% D4g: 10=1,7% D4h: 2=0,3% D4i: 2=0,3% D4j: 3=0,5% D4q: 1=0,2% E1b: 1=0,2% M*: 7=1,2% M10: 3=0,5% M11: 4=0,7% M12: 8=1,4% M17a: 1=0,2% (SEA) M20: 4=0,7% (SEA; apparently not identical with the South Asian hg which was called M20, too) M71: 6=1,0% (SEA) M74b: 1=0,2% (SEA) M75: 2=0,3% (EA?) M76a: 2=0,3% (SEA) N*: 2=0,3% N10: 6=1,0% (Hani) N11a: 1=0,2% (EA) N21: 7=1,2% (SEA) N9a: 3=0,5% R*: 7=1,2% R11: 3=0,5% (EA) R22: 1=0,2% (SEA) Y1: 2=0,3% Z: 6=1,0% hgs associated with NE India in particular: M33b: 4=0,7% M49: 5=0,9% altogether 9=1,6% probably South Asian according to hg: M3: 1=0,2% M4: 2=0,3% M6: 1=0,2% M31a1: 1=0,2% M31b: 2=0,3% M37a: 1=0,2% R5a: 1=0,2% R8a2: 1=0,2% altogether: 10=1,7% hg apparently not yet associated with any particular macro-region: M60b: 1=0,2% And one more sample composed of Dai and Han (n=362): E1b: 3=0,8% M33b: 1=0,3% M33c: 2=0,6% M61: 1=0,3% M5a1: 1=0,3% M25: 1=0,3% M30c: 1=0,3% N5: 1=0,3% M60a: 1=0,3% Pooled sample (n=939): E1b: 4=0,4% mostly in NE India: 13=1,4% probably South Asian but not E or SE Asian: 14=1,5% Source: Zhang Amei et al. 2015: Mitochondrial DNA haplogroup A ==> Some people might simply consider M33 and M49 to be South Asian hgs which migrated to southern East Asia. But the fact that these hgs are most common in Indian populations which have EEA backgrounds indicates the possibility that they stayed in East Asia. This would also explain why they seem to be more common in Yunnan than the those hgs which are more typically associated with South Asians, i.e., M3, M4, M6, M31, M37, R5 and R8. Besides, it's noteworthy that there appears to be a continental branch of mtDNA hg E in Yunnan. And the fact that there are two branches of M60 in Yunnan might indicate that M60 is eastern Asian rather than South Asian. |
