According to Kharkov et al. 2014, M124+ lineages are particularly common in Buryats of Dzhidin district (Зэдын аймаг) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dzhidinsky_District of Buryatia. Further, M124+ occurs in a relatively high percentage of Durbed Kalmyks (Malyarchuk et al. 2013), Tore Kazaks (Zhabagin et al. 2015) and Kozha Kazaks (ibid.). Now, Zhabagin et al. suggested an explanation according to which M124+ had something to do with the spread of Islam in Kazaks. That might be relevant in case of the Kozha Kazak lineages in particular and maybe also the Tore Kazak lineages. Then again, Kozha Kazaks include a relatively high percentage of men in y hg D, too (ibid.). So, if they were like a tribe specialised on ritual tasks, these ritual tasks might have been from different traditions with y hg D possibly being from Tibetan ritual specialists. That would be in accordance with the M124+ hts found in Mongols, which seem to be different from those of West Eurasians (Malyarchuk et al. 2013). I don't know whether there is any Buddhist or pre-Buddhist ritual tradition specific to Dzhidin district of Buryatia. But it might be worth being checked. Darkhad region, which is famous for its pre-Buddhist tradition, is relatively close to Dzhidin district. And there are possibly some monasteries to the south and east of the latter at least.
