Debec's data seem to allow relatively direct comparisons between Koreans from Hamgyongbuk-do and Hamgyongnam-do on the one hand and different North Asian populations on the other hand. Interestingly, these data include Asian Beringian (unambiguously coastal), Even (i.e., possibly coastal/inland transitional) and Buryat (unambiguously inland) data... hair colour: darker (i.e., more like Beringians) beard growth: intermediate eyebrow growth: rather less (i.e., like in the Even sample) lips: fuller than in Evens in particular according to table 34 mouth width: smaller than in North Asians in general according to table 35 Source: Debec 1951 |
