Those whose remains were examined: - 2 men ("MN0104" and "MN0126") in y hg R1b-M343+ and in mtDNA hg D4 identified as noblemen by the pearl of the one and the ear ring of the other - 1 man ("MN0127")in whose grave there was one ear ring and whose mtDNA hg was D4 but whose y DNA could not be analysed - 1 man in y hg R1a-M17+ ("MN0376") and in mtDNA hg M9 who might have been from a different family (i.e., neither local nor noble) - 1 relatively tall (166cm) woman ("MN0105") who belonged to mtDNA hg CZ - 1 woman in ("MN0125") in mtDNA hg D4, in whose grave there was a ring - 1 female teenager ("MN0124") in mtDNA paragroup R* Interestingly, the hts indicate that the three nobleman and the woman in mtDNA hg D4 might have belonged to the same genealogical matrilineage (Lkhagvasuren et al. 2016, p. 16). At the same time the falcon symbols in the rings of the two adult women indicates that they had something to do with the Borjigin people (ibid., p. 18). So their respective mtDNA ht profiles could imply where the Borjigin might have resided back then. Unfortunately, Lkhagvasuren et al. didn't find out much more as for the identification of these lineages, though. (See table 5 of their paper.) Moreover, the R1b individuals coudl still turn out to have the M73+ mutation. In this context, the according tests might help finding out more about the patrilineal backgrounds of certain Turkic-speakers and Hazaras. Key words: Borjigin, Hazara, medieval, Mongols, noblemen, Turkic-speakers |
